High Peak Marathon 2010
Some years ago I ran in the High Peak Marathon. We didn’t make it round on that occasion, but I do remember that it is a race with a character of it’s own. Start times run from 10pm onwards, so for the runners a large proportion of the 42mile race takes place in the dark.
A few of the pictures below, and the rest in the gallery clicky here.
Kinder Winter- Photo Exhibition Hayfield
I’m really please to have put together a collection of Winter themed pictures titled “Kinder Winter” . Taken over the last couple of years in the Peak District hills I’m so fortunate to be surrounded by.
Classic landscapes and more abstract pictures along with the odd winter person doing winter things.
Hayfield Library is hosting the exhibition, and of course prints are for sale. If you get the opportunity please come and have a look. Though I say so myself the big prints look quite spectacular.

Hit The North - Winter v2
Hit The North returned to Phillips park Whitefield, for two hours of bike racing. Cool but sunny, and moist going under tyre.

Manchester Velodrome Revolution 26
Saturday the 5th of December found me back at the Velodrome in Manchester taking picture for the guys who bring us the Revolution Race Series.
Coupled with this I had a commision for a few shots for a National newspaper to be taken at about 7 pm and to be with them for 8pm. No pressure then.
Anyway the evening went smoothly. Good to see some old friends there, and of course to see some of the stars of cycling in action.
A full report on the evenings racing can be found at the Revolution website.
One of my favourites from the night.

Bradley Wiggins and Craig MacLean
Ride Journal
A recent commision for The Ride journal.
“Please could we have a cyclo-cross picture of Nick Craig for issue 3.” Yep no problem, I replied. Unfortunately the week they wanted it, all the weather wanted to do was tip rain down upon our village.
At the eleventh hour Nick and I headed out in the pouring rain with lots of plastic bags to keep the flashes and camera dry, to capture this shot.
Not your traditional cyclo-cross pose granted, but back in the day Nick used to train for the Three Peaks Cyclo-Cross in the evening after work by doing reps with his bike over his shoulder up a similar hill on the other side of the valley.
Oh, and if you haven’t got your copy yet, you can order Ride online here.
Chorley Equestrian Fun Ride.
Today I have been mostly, sat in a field taking pictures of Horses and riders at the annual Chorley fun ride which takes place near Cholmondeley in Cheshire.
It’s the first time I’ve ever been to an equestrian event, never mind taking pictures at one, so I’m quite pleased with the pictures.
I elected not to use the camera flash so as not to spook any horses, which made shooting into the direction of the sun and bright sky somewhat challenging. Anyway, apart from the lack of sun most of the day, there are still some great shots.
Below a couple of sample, the rest can be found in the gallery here (click).
Please beware if you order a print to be posted to you, then the current postal strike may induce a significant delay in its arrival. Needless to say if you order a digital file, this wil not be the case.
Oh and I enjoyed myself today, friendly people those horsey folk, so if you need a photographer to cover your event, give me a shout.

Over the Jump.

Graceful Horse.

Dapple Grey Horse and Sky
Notts and Derby Cyclo-Cross Pictures.

After my previous weeks racing at the 3 peaks cyclo-cross, I returned to the other side of the camera, to take some photos of this event.
A day of much wind, but thankfully hardly any rain. A good turn out in all categories.

Lantern Pike Fell Race 2009
The Lantern Pike Fell race, last of the Hayfield Championship series. A fast 5 miles with just over 1000 feet of up and down. Won by Simon Coldrick in 33:20 who was way ahead of the rest of the field. Still the record set in 1977 still survives.
Click here for the 100 pics already up, a few more still to sort through.
Results can be found here.

Sleepless in the Saddle Photos now up.
There’s a few more to upload, but the vast majority of pictures are up now. I’ve certainly not got one of everyone, though there are lots of good ones of some folk.
Still the podium ones to upload though.
Click here to search by rider number. Type SITS followed by rider number. There are a few as always where I couldn’t make out the rider number, so if you want to browse the gallery, click here.
Sleepless In The Saddle 2009 Pics
I’ve ridden Sleepless In The Saddle more than once solo, and from my memory SITS means mud and more mud. This time though the weather was rather pleasant, at least for a photographer, though after the recent rains there was some interest in the under tyre conditions. Organised by Pat Chris Ag et al a thoroughly enjoyable time was had by all of us.
A few pictures now, the rest in the next couple of days
